Scour Protection

Stabilizing Seabed Conditions for Offshore Structures

Scour protection systems are used in marine and offshore environments to prevent or limit the erosion of seabed material around structures. Currents, waves, and hydrodynamic forces can gradually move sediment, leading to erosion around foundations and subsea infrastructure.

By stabilizing the seabed and controlling sediment movement, scour protection measures help maintain the intended conditions around marine installations. This contributes to the long-term stability, safety, and reliability of offshore and coastal structures.

Applications

Key Applications of Scour Protection Systems

Foundation Scour Protection

Protection of offshore and marine foundations against localized seabed erosion caused by currents and hydrodynamic forces. Ensures structural stability and prevents the formation of scour holes.

Cable Stabilization

Stabilization of subsea cables to prevent exposure, movement, or free spanning. Maintains cable position and protects against external influences.

Ports and Coastal Infrastructure

Protection of port and coastal structures such as quay walls, jetties, and shorelines. Supports stable seabed conditions in areas with continuous sediment movement.

Our Solutions

Basalt-Based Scour Protection Systems

Our scour protection solutions are based on basalt fiber technology, offering a durable and high-performance alternative to conventional materials used in marine environments.

Basalt fibers are produced from natural basalt rock and are characterized by high tensile strength, chemical resistance, and long-term durability. They are resistant to water, environmental influences, and extreme temperatures, making them well suited for demanding offshore conditions.

At the same time, basalt-based systems are designed to be compatible with established installation methods, allowing for efficient implementation without major changes to proven offshore processes.

Basalt Nets

Basalt nets are designed for applications using coarser rock material. With a mesh size of approximately 50 mm, they are particularly suitable for stabilizing larger stones while maintaining permeability.

Basalt Bags

Basalt bags consist of a continuous textile structure, making them suitable for finer materials such as sand and mixed grain sizes.
